Grocery Store Collapse

WWYD Wednesday

Someone collapses in a grocery aisle and does not respond. People freeze. Someone says, “Don’t touch them—wait for the ambulance.” Then an AED arrives, but you have never used one.

Would you step forward? What would you check and do first?

Fact Check Friday

Make sure the scene is safe. If a teen or adult is unresponsive and is not breathing normally or is only gasping, call 911 or direct someone to call and get an AED. Put the phone on speaker for dispatcher guidance.

For Hands-Only CPR, push firmly and rapidly in the middle of the chest, aiming for 100–120 compressions each minute. Let the chest rise fully between pushes.

Switch on the AED as soon as it arrives and follow its instructions. Early action matters; hands-on training builds confidence.
