Power Outage

WWYD Wednesday
It is 8:17 PM. The whole neighborhood goes dark. Your phone is at 38%, cell service is spotty, and someone asks, “Do we have any water?”
What are your first three moves: find flashlights, conserve batteries, check on others, protect refrigerated food, or leave? How long could your household manage without electricity?
Fact Check Friday
Use flashlights instead of candles when possible. Never operate a generator, grill, or similar fuel-burning device indoors. Keep generators outdoors and at least 20 feet from doors, windows, and vents.
An unopened refrigerator keeps food cold for about 4 hours. A full freezer holds its temperature for about 48 hours, or 24 hours if half-full.
Plan ahead for water, communication, medical equipment, heating, cooling, and batteries. Unplug sensitive electronics to help protect against surges.
